Sutton Bank & The White Horse
Walking Trip and Short Review
Wednesday 4th March 2020
We parked in the Yorkshire Gliding Club customer car park and walked up to the Gliding clubs little cafe which is open from 9:30 and stops serving food about 2pm weekdays. A good view while watching the gliders taking off and landing, although there didn't seem to be many today, not sure if it was the weather conditions, which weren't too bad today then they have been. I felt it was quite mild for the time of year coming up to Springtime. The daffodils and some other spring time flowers out already while we drove up to the Gliding place. Saw 3 or 4 gliders and that seemed to be it for today, although they were doing some maintanance work it seemed on some of them in the base.
You can have flights and go up in a Glider or Microlite. A sheet that we read whilst there mentioned for £25.00 you could try out a simulator before booking on a real flight to see if you liked it or not which is good for the people that might be interested.
The website for the YGC is: https://www.ygc.co.uk/
If anyone is ever interested in having a look at what they offer.
Myself, my mum and step dad go up for walks up there and there are also some Geocaches (www.geocaching.com) done by the geocachers, islaynut and melandfreddie17. Who I've had the honour of meeting myself. Lovely people.
Whilst going back to the car we decided to go for the nearest geocache which was from the cacher islaynut and came across a family of 3 deer walking across the road up towards the gliding centre. Mrs Harp had to get out and try and get a photo, which went rather well but might be a bit blurry here are some photos.
